Homeopathy was officially adopted in Cuba in 1992, and it is now integrated across the whole island.

See:  Large-scale application of highly-diluted bacteria for Leptospirosis epidemic control. Bracho G, Varela E, Fernández R, et al. Homeopathy 2010; 99: 156–166.

Homeopathy is the medicine for the people… and the main solution for developing countries… a low risk, low cost solution… and the only solution for difficult situations where no conventional medicine solutions are possible or available.’

Helen Bonham Carter and Homeopathy

Helena Bonham Carter (born 26 May 1966) is an English actress.

Helena, who is a fan of homeopathy, would have liked to have had a natural birth with son Billy but when it was all and said and done, the pain won out.

Actress Helena Bonham Carter, 41, is currently seven months pregnant with her second child by director Tim Burton, 49. The couple, who have a four-year-old son Billy-Ray, knew that they wanted more children but didn’t know the struggle that awaited them.

What’s Behind Ben Goldacre?

Avilian reproduces this very interesting post by John Stone 4.8.10 (UK Editor for Age of Autism) from the Age of Autism website without prejudice:

After years of secrecy on the matter, confirmation has finally come to light that Guardian ‘Bad Science’ journalist Ben Goldacre is the son of Oxford professor of public health  Michael  J Goldacre (HERE).

Prof Goldacre has been director since 1986 of the UK Department Health funded Unit of Healthcare Epidemiology (HERE).  The family relationship is mentioned in a review of Goldacre junior’s Bad Science book in the peer-review journal Medicine, Conflict and Survival (25, p.255-7, 2009)by Dr Ian Fairlie, but there has been a long term lack of candour about the matter.

Effects of homeopathic medicines on polysomnographic sleep of young adults with histories of coffee-related insomnia. Bell IR, Howerter A, Jackson N, Aickin M, Baldwin CM, Bootzin RR. Department of Family and Community Medicine, The University of Arizona College of Medicine, Tucson, AZ, USA; Department of Psychiatry, The University of Arizona College of Medicine, Tucson, AZ, USA; Department of Psychology, The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA; Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA. Animal studies have previously shown changes in non rapid eye movement sleep with certain homeopathic remedies.

Large-scale application of highly-diluted bacteria for Leptospirosis epidemic control

Large-scale application of highly-diluted bacteria for Leptospirosis epidemic control. Bracho G, Varela E, Fernández R, Ordaz B, Marzoa N, Menéndez J, García L, Gilling E, Leyva R, Rufín R, de la Torre R, Solis RL, Batista N, Borrero R, Campa C. Finlay Institute, Ave. 27, La Lisa, Havana City, Cuba. Homeopathy. 2010 Jul;99(3):156-166.

BACKGROUND: Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease of major importance in the tropics where the incidence peaks in rainy seasons. Natural disasters represent a big challenge to Leptospirosis prevention strategies especially in endemic regions.

Vaccination is an effective option but of reduced effectiveness in emergency situations. Homeoprophylactic interventions might help to control epidemics by using highly-diluted pathogens to induce protection in a short time scale.

We report the results of a very large-scale homeoprophylaxis (HP) intervention against Leptospirosis in a dangerous epidemic situation in three provinces of Cuba in 2007.
